Dr. Klausen provides trainings, skill-building, and seminars for companies, community groups, social service organizations, group homes, and churches. Topics and content are usually custom-made for the specific needs of the people served. Dr. Klausen has a passion for community education, for giving people the tools and insights to improve their own and others’ lives. As such, Dr. Klausen provides many trainings each year at no charge. Since Dr. Klausen only has so much time and doing seminars does have costs (e.g., this website, travel, insurance) Dr. Klausen does charge a low fee for many of his presentations, so that he can continue to do this.

How to Avoid Biases and Assumptions

Dr. Klausen will provide experiential learning opportunities to help you understand the extent to which hidden biases control your thinking. He will also provide practical tools for preventing such biases from affecting the choices of you and your organization.

Managing Interpersonal Stress: Deal With It!

Dr. Klausen provides strategies and tips for managing interpersonal stress as well as dealing with difficult people. The emphasis is on strategies for minimizing the stress before it is even triggered and on ways of communication that increases the chances that your needs will be met. 

Understanding Anxiety: Whatever You Do… Don’t Panic
Dr. Klausen will explain how anxiety affects our mind and body and why we experience it. He will also provide basic principles and applied strategies in managing workplace and home life anxiety.

Using Core Values to Understand People, Communicate Better, and Increase Motivation

Espen Klausen, Ph.D., licensed psychologist, will train participants in how to recognize own and others’ core values. He will show you how you can use this understanding to work through conflict and improve the motivation in yourself, co-workers, and customers.

Thoughts on Thoughts: Is There Such a Thing as Mind Control? 

Dr. Klausen will explain how we are in less control of our own thoughts than we think.  He will discuss how automatic thoughts are influenced by our environment and how to transfer more control over to our deliberate thinking to improve our personal and work life.

Understanding Depression: When Darkness Settles

Dr. Klausen will explain how depression affects our mind and body and why occasionally feeling down is normal. Basics regarding grief, hopelessness, sense of loss of purpose, dysthymia, and clinical depression will all be discussed. Various mental and physical states often confused with a depressive state will also be covered. Cornerstones in managing or getting out of depressive states will be provided.

Understanding Emotions: I’m Hooked on a Feeling

Dr. Klausen will skip the sap and go straight to the roots of what feelings are and where they come from in the brain and body. He will branch out into specific ways identifying and understanding emotions can improve our personal and work life.

Communication: Say what???

Dr. Klausen will talk about foundational principles regarding both verbal and non-verbal communication, and practical ideas on how we can improve our communication with coworkers and others.

Grief and Loss: Loss is a Constant

Dr. Klausen will explain our natural psychological and behavioral reactions to loss and will delineate how to facilitate healthy bereavement.
